Diary Athens Feb 27-Mar 05, 2015

Mar 05
Started running at 07.00hr, easier to navigate the Streets of Athens. Route 1. Had a cup of tea at the Starbucks at Monastiraki. Cloudy today with some sunshine. It is supposed to rain, wel, maybe later.
Bought sausages and bread on Athinai street on the way back to the hotel.
Around 18.00 hour I took the subway from Omonia to the Akropolis stop. I don't have many nighttime photo's and videos. Walked through Plaka to Monastiraki.

Mar 04
Stayed on the balcony this morning. Not as warm as yesterday. Had a siesta. After I woke up I walked from the hotel to Monastiraki,
All the tavernas and the square, are filled with people.
 from there to Syntagma.
 Parliament
Walked over Venizelou Street back to the hotel.

Mar 03
It has been  sunny the past 3 days. I have been up since 06.00, no longer tired from lack of sleep.
Went running, Route 2
I'm going to the mountain (Lykabettou) this afternoon.
There is a monastery on the top, access by cable car. (7 euro)
 Akropolis, in the distance Piraeus
Akropolis, in the distance Piraeus
Olympic Stadium
Looked up my blog post from Jan 2013. To see which bus line to take (60, from Kolonaki, 4th stop).
Here is my blog post from Jan 2013. Paste the link in your internet browser if you want to read it.

Instead of taking the bus, I walked back to Syntagma and took Ermou Street to Monastiraki,
walked back to the hotel.

Mar 02
I woke up at 04.00 because of people talking in the room next door. Got up and did some work. Went back to sleep at 05.00. Slept until 07.30hr. Hara asked me to get staples which are impossible to find, (went to 4 different stores) because her staple gun is 15 years old...
Changed rooms this morning, I was in room 503, now in 501, same as last time I was here. Better bathroom.
Siesta from 14.00 until 15.30hr. Too tired to go out this evening.

Mar 01
Noisy in the hotel last night. I've been up since 06.00am.
It is now 07.20, updated my blog and I went for a run.
Route 1
I walked from Monastiraki back to the hotel.
And now I am sitting in the sun on my balcony.... It's a hard life......
Siesta until 15.00. Walked to Omonia, bought a metro pass. The 7 day pass which was 14 euro has been replaced by a 5 day pass for 10 euro. Took the metro to the Akropolis stop. It being sunday and beautiful weather...
Plaka
Walked up to Anafiotika (I remembered in which houses my friends lived)

Feb 28
At 6am: Noise from people across the street. Gypsies, leaving. Going back to Romania and Bulgaria
Time to get up. Still tired. Cloudy, but no rain.
Walked to Monastiraki square. Lots of people.
On the way back to the hotel, stopped at the Agora market for sausages and oranges.
Back to the hotel for another siesta... Woke up at 16.00.
After dark I walked towards Oktovriou street. (at the end, lit up, is the Akropolis)
the National Archelogical Museum
this is what the museum looks like in daylight.

Feb 27, 2015: Weddel - Braunschweig - Berlin - Athens
Technically it is now Feb 27th because it is 2 o'clock in the morning.
But I left on the 26th. Two trains (Weddel-Braunschweig, Braunschweig-Berlin Ostbahnhof)
and two S Bahn trains (Berlin Ostbahnhof - Ostkreuz, Ostkreuz-Berlin Schoenefeld aiport).
The Berlin Schoenefeld airport is about 25 minutes south east of Berlin Hauptbahnhof. Small and nothing open....
At 04.45 I checked my luggage. Flying Easyjet.
A full plane. Landed at the Athens airport about 10.00 o'clock, local time.
I took the Metro to downtown Athens. Although the metro train has very few people on it, I sat next to the one of the exits, with my luggage within reach, because before we reach Syntagma square it will get full. It did get full and at the Synragma stop I had to push people out of the way to get off the train. Changing to the red line, 2 more stops and I got out at Omonia Square, from there I walked to the Aristoteles Hotel.
 Aristoteles hotel
The room I have is on the 5th floor, next to the one I had 15 months ago..
And after being awake for more than 24 hours, time for siesta.
