May 28, 2018: Flagstaff

It was in the news that it has been 78 days of dry weather in Arizona. Not a record though.
Last thursday I got my driver license renewed, for 5 years.
Next week sunday I am taking the shuttle to Phoenix, 1 night in a hotel and then Monday morning a flight to Los Angeles. The group arrives the same morning. I will do part of the city tour  and Jun 05 we'll visit Universal Studios.

May 23, 2018: Flagstaff

My green card expires in August. I had an appointment at the Immigration office, very  early on Monday morning.  On Sunday I picked up a rental car from Flagstaff airport. It is a 2 1/2 hour drive to Phoenix, so the plan was to leave Flagstaff at 04.15hr.
That was the plan, of course I woke up just past midnight, and I could not fall asleep again. I left for Phoenix at 02.00hr. The rental was a brand new Ford Focus. Everything automatic.
My interview at USCIS was at 07.15, and I was done at 08.00hr. I used 8 1/4 gallons for 255 miles. The car got 30 miles to a gallon.
I got a 1 year extension, and the new 10 year green card will be mailed to me. It will take 10 to 12 months.....

May 19, 2018: Flagstaff

Summer is fully here, the temperature in my trailer at 06.00 is 7 degrees, at 15.00 hr, 30 degrees. That does not happen in Holland or Germany, or California.

I have car problems. It is a diesel pickup truck, mostly fuel injector(s) and/or fuel pomp.Took it took a garage last tuesday. This morning I heard that it will cost around 2000 dollars......
My next tour, starting Jun 04, will have to pay for the repair.

May 10, 2018: Flagstaff

Summer has started, heat record in Phoenix 2 days ago. The doors and windows of my trailer are wide open at night.
I am now officially retired in the US, my medical insurance has also been renewed, my green card renewal is in the bureaucratic pipeline. It can take up to 11 months, but in the meantime I can get a sticker for my green card that will allow me to travel outside the USA.
It gets light at 05.00, so I am up at 05.30.
Car problems. My car stall at low idle. Might be an expensive repair...I hate cars...unless they drive without a problem.

The weather is still weird. High country weather. Snow coming down yesterday, and tomorrow temperatures are expected to be about 24 C...
