Diary Athens: Jan 26-30, 2017

Jan 29
I went to Hara's house early in the morning and left my suitcase there. Last laundry and cleaning.

Jan 28
I am leaving for Germany and Holland in 3 days and I want to leave the house clean. Today I washed 1 sheet and, because the sun is shining, out on the balcony to dry.
Took the metro at 10.00 am to Hara's House, leaving my bouzouki there. The subway cars where jam packed, but I made it.
I visited the National Archeological Museum in 2013 and 2016.

Today I went again.

Jan 27
A 4 hour strike of the metro today. A lot of angry Greek women at the Panormou station protesting.

Athens Diary: Jan 18-26, 2017

Jan 23
The weather has been crummy the past 3 days. A lot of clouds, sometimes rain. Not cold though. Yesterday I had meatballs and bread for lunch. Afterwards I fell alseep on the couch for 2 hours. Last night I slept 7 1/2 hours, so this morning I felt well rested. My running went very well, plenty of energy.
I just finished doing the wooden floors. Vacuum, followed by a Swiffer and then scrubbing with medium hot water, followed by another Swiffer to get rid of water stains.
Running clothes in the washing machine. The next time running will be in Holland.
I am flying back to Berlin on Jan 30. Jan 31 a train to Haarlem, Holland.

Jan 22
Yesterday I went to the meat market on Athina Street.  I'm cooking for 5 people at Hara's house today.  I bought 2 kilo freshly ground beef. To make meatballs "keftedes".  26 meatballs I made.

The pictures I took with my Wilko Robby smart phone. The reason there is a haze on the left side is because there was a piece of protective plastic covering the lens. Which I hadn't noticed.

Jan 18
Took the metro to the Ambelokipi station and starting running from there to the Akropolis. At the Ambelokipi station there were 2 people checking passengers for valid tickets. Second time that I experienced a spot check.

 It rained during the run and it continued raining throug the morning. Saturday it is supposed to be better.

Cold wind yesterday and today.

The population of Athens was 3.85 million in 2011 and 3.76 million in 2016. And all seem to drive their cars from 04.00-02.00 on the street where my apartment is: Leoforos Kifisias.
I have been traveling since I was 17. I hate "going somewhere. The going part. With luggage.
I like to THINK of somewhere and then BE there, without having to go on planes, buses and trains.
Walking is oke, but can get boring.
I prefer running.

My second month has started. Today I spent my time on the balcony from 09.00-13.00, in the sun.
Most of the bigger stores and all the supermarkets are closed today, doing inventory.
Not much is happening. Which is good. Relax time. Next week I will call Go West in San Francisco to find out if they have tours for me....
